It's Been A Long Time...

Hey ya'll! So we haven't blogged for a minute and we apologize! One of the main reasons we've been away, is because we honestly want to start hearing from more of our b-girls! It's great that the homegirls have something to say, but we're older and you might not always agree with what we have to say. So instead of having the blog filled with a posts speaking to teens and just reflecting on our issues, we decided to take a little break.

Well, good news! That' all about to change. B-Girls, Inc recently started L.O.L, an after school program focused on love and literacy and soon the blog will feature posts from the b-girls in the program. We're also putting out an official call for teen editors. We'd love to hear what's going on in your schools, communities, and your lives period! Need any advice? Yup, we're gearing up for an "Ask a B-Girl" column too!

So seeking more b-girls to write for us is just one of the reasons, we've been M.I.A. Another reason is because we were focusing a lot of attention on our first event. Be Beautiful, Be Smart commemorated National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (May 4th) and was held this past Saturday, April 30th at The Connection, 4321 South Cottage Grove, Chicago, Illinois. When I tell you we had so much fun at this event!!! Seriously, it was a blast.

B-Girls, Inc hosted a workshop about sex education and avoiding spur of the moment behavior. We even put on an impromptu mini-performance! The Red Pump Project led a dope interactive workshop getting the girls involved and emphasizing peer mentoring training skills or what we like to call "peer-to-peer" mentoring, which is our positive spin on peer pressure. We'll have a full event recap for you soon!

So we've definitely been moving and shaking things up. We hope to never be away from the blog this long again! In the meantime we also have other ways for you to keep in touch with us! Follow us on Twitter, Tumblr or "Like" our Facebook page!

Talk to you soon!
